Ricky Martin files $20 million lawsuit against nephew over false sexual abuse and extortion claims

Sensational allegations have led Puerto Rican music sensation Ricky Martin to take legal action against his own nephew, accusing him of extortion, malicious persecution, and false claims of sexual abuse that have cost the artist millions of dollars in lost income.

According to Mr. Martin’s legal team, the lawsuit states that the troubled nephew, identified as Dennis Yadiel Sanchez Martin, has been “persecuting, harassing, stalking, and extorting” the artist for economic gain.

The legal action further alleges that the nephew’s continued harassment is aimed at damaging the reputation and integrity of the artist if he does not receive any financial benefit.

It has been noted that the nephew, under oath in July, admitted that the allegations of sexual assault by the artist were false, after previously taking legal measures based on those claims which resulted in a temporary restraining order against Martin being issued and later suspended.

This legal battle has reportedly cost Martin at least $10 million in lost income from canceled contracts and projects, as well as causing $20 million in damages to his reputation, as per the lawsuit.

It remains unclear if the attorney who represented Mr. Sanchez in the initial case will continue to represent him in the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, September 7.

The lawsuit outlines that Mr. Sanchez had been bombarding Mr. Martin with up to 10 messages a day for several months, many of which were described as “meaningless diatribes without any particular purpose.” Additionally, Mr. Sanchez allegedly published the artist’s private number on Instagram, which led to Martin having to change his contact details.

The legal filing also highlighted previous restraining orders filed against Mr. Sanchez in an unrelated stalking case, and expressed concerns regarding the safety of Martin and his family in Puerto Rico due to Sanchez’s alleged behavior.

In a video obtained by Page Six from July, Martin explained why he had not addressed the incestuous relationship allegations made by Sanchez when they first surfaced, citing legal procedures that prevented him from discussing the matter until he was in front of a judge.
